Update · October 21, 2026

Granbury ISD’s October 20 enrollment report counts 7,697 students across the district, seven fewer than the October 13 total of 7,704. The report compares that with 7,851 students on October 21, 2025—a decrease of 154, or about 2.0 percent. These are districtwide enrollment figures, not a count of children living in Cresson, and they do not establish the reason for the change.

The district has posted the Future Planning Committee’s October 19 board-recommendation presentation. It outlines six advisory recommendations and encourages implementation over the next one to three years, with timing left to trustees and administrators. The current BoardBook agenda places the committee report under District Reports. The presentation and agenda do not establish approval of a bond, an asset sale or an operating change; a final trustee outcome remains unverified in the records reviewed as of October 21.

The October 13 recommendations and pre-meeting record

Granbury ISD’s Future Planning Committee reached consensus October 13 on six recommendations addressing district finances, operations and facilities. Its recap scheduled the recommendations for the October 19 board meeting. These are advisory recommendations; trustees retain the district’s decision-making authority.

What the committee recommends

  • Study bus routing and possible transportation outsourcing.
  • Continue reviewing programs and personnel against enrollment and results.
  • Evaluate possible sales of district assets.
  • Seek donations and community support for needs without funding.
  • Develop a sustainable long-term financial plan with trustees and administrators.
  • Explore and seek a streamlined bond with multiple propositions.

Six consensus recommendations in the October 13 recap

The recap does not establish an adopted bond amount, a final construction list, an election call, an outsourcing contract, personnel reductions or an authorized asset sale. The approximately $141.2 million in facility needs discussed September 29 was an assessment under review, not an adopted bond or spending authorization.

District FAQ and meeting materials

The October 19 agenda needs careful reading

The current BoardBook public notice places the Future Planning Committee Recommendation Report at item 10a under District Reports. Its replacement memo, listed October 16, marks Report and says “Report only,” replacing an earlier request to approve the recommendations. The current public notice and packet agree with that report classification.

Current BoardBook public notice · Revised report-only memo

The district’s board-meetings page still links its original October 13 notice, which places the recommendation at item 12a under Discuss and Take Action. The official sources therefore retain different labels. No dated replacement resolving that older district link, and no trustee decision, was independently verified by October 17. A report-only memo does not establish the meeting outcome.

Original action-labeled notice · District meeting schedule

The October 19 notice scheduled open session for 6 p.m. at 217 N. Jones Street in Granbury, with closed session at 5 p.m. Those are historical meeting arrangements. A scheduled presentation is not an adopted policy, and an agenda label is not a meeting outcome.

Earlier enrollment comparison · October 13

The October 13 report records 7,704 students districtwide, unchanged from October 6. Its comparison is 7,877 students on October 14, 2025: 173 fewer, or about 2.2 percent. Those are the report’s stated comparison dates. This is districtwide enrollment, not a Cresson-resident count, average daily attendance or evidence of why enrollment changed.

October 13 enrollment report

For Cresson households in Granbury ISD, the next useful evidence is the board’s actual discussion and any recorded action, followed by specific priorities, funding terms and later votes. Expected development does not replace measured enrollment, and lower enrollment does not by itself settle the maintenance needs of existing buildings.

Aledo: future site planning, with campus decisions ahead

In separate regional school planning, Aledo ISD’s October 13 announcement describes a Walsh partnership for a potential future elementary-school site of nearly 13 acres fronting Quail Meadow Drive, north of I-20 and I-30. The district says the timing, location and type of its next campus remain undetermined and that new construction would require future committee recommendations and a successful bond election. The announcement does not establish a completed title transfer, school opening or attendance-zone change; the site is outside Cresson.
