Granbury returns to Pirate Stadium for Homecoming on Friday, October 23, with Arlington Sam Houston visiting for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Both teams are looking for their first District 3–6A victory: the Pirates enter 2–5 overall and 0–4 in district, while the Texans are 3–4 and 0–4.
The Pirates lost 54–20 at Weatherford on October 16. Granbury led 13–7 after the first quarter, but Weatherford scored 19 unanswered points in the second to take a 26–13 halftime lead. Spencer Taylor gave Granbury a productive night on the ground: the entered statistics credit him with 164 rushing yards on 23 carries and a touchdown. The defeat was the Pirates’ fourth in a row. Sam Houston also arrives after a loss, falling 26–17 to Arlington Lamar in the same district round.
A week of Homecoming traditions
Granbury’s October 21 parade is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m., followed by a spirit rally and fireworks at Pirate Stadium. Friday’s football pregame begins at 6:30 p.m., when the district plans to recognize its 2026 Athletic & Academic Hall of Fame inductees. Recognition of the Class of 1976 Coming Home King and Queen is scheduled for halftime.
